Palm oil, crude and a well-educated state

Imo, the Eastern Heartland, is the third smallest state in Nigeria by area yet one of the more populous, with Owerri as its capital. The Imo River runs along its eastern border and gives the state its name. It sits third in the country on the Human Development Index and stands out for literacy and educational attainment.

Palm oil is the backbone of farming. Crude oil and gas come mainly from the north and west of the state. Wells are spread over many sites; Addax Petroleum, Chevron, Shell and Agip all operate here, around councils such as Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru East. Ngor Okpala, Obowo, Iho and Oru West are also counted among the oil-rich councils.

Tourism adds another strand, with Oguta Lake, the Palm Beach Holiday Resort at Awo-omamma and visitor sites along the 26 km Njaba River. Whether you supply the oil sector, sell farm produce or run a hospitality business, your website should answer questions quickly and make it easy to reach you.
